SIMUN was very tough for me. My country was Denmark. I did everything I could to get involved, but it just wasn’t paying off. I would have had a much better time if I had an easier country. Denmark is very neutral…on everything. They are allies with just about everyone, that made caucusing much easier for me but when it came time to make speeches and take a side, I didn’t have anything to say. Caucusing was by far the easiest for me because I could talk to everyone in the group. I caucused more with Mexico, Cuba, China and the USA more than any other countries. The fact that I could talk to anyone I wanted to helped me out tons in SIMUN. For having a country like Denmark I think I did pretty well.
I did much research on Denmark. I found just about everything I could. I found out that Denmark only has problems with two countries. Neither of which were in my group- Ireland and Greenland. The only problem Denmark has ever run into was the ordeal about the Faroe Islands. Denmark, Greenland and Ireland think they all have control over the islands. Now the islands are independent but are still a province of Denmark, so rightfully they belong to Denmark. Greenland and Ireland think differently. Denmark has owned the island since 1380. Just because they are a province of Denmark doesn’t mean that they aren’t property of Denmark.
Next year I hope to get a country that is more involved in political world issues. I plan to do much more research and know my country very well. I’d love to get a country like Germany or France. Countries that are involved, but not too involved. I wouldn’t like to get a country like the USA or China. Those countries have to be very difficult because they seem to be involved in just about every issue in the world.

Slumdog Millionaire.
The movie of Slumdog Millionaire and the book were completely different. The screenwriter of the movie took out many, many details from the book. I’m sure part of the reason they did was to cut down on time but they needed to clean the movie up a bit from the book. Let's just say the book can be a little graphic at times. Not only that, but if they kept it the way it was, it wouldn’t appeal much to the American audience. Taking out the parts they did made it easier for not only Americans but people in general to relate to. The book is still relatable, there is just so much more Indian culture in it, and it’s harder for people not of that culture to comprehend. They live in a world where kids, little kids grow up, without parents, without food, without a home, without anything. People and the adults who are suppose to be taking care of them are so wrapped up into themselves that they abuse and hurt these little kids, who never had a chance.
The main character in this book is named Thomas; he grew up going from foster home to foster home when finally a priest named timothy took him in. While Thomas was still very young, timothy was killed by another priest whom after shot timothy, shot himself. I don’t know one person who can really relate to that. And hopefully I’ll never meet one. This book is very debatable when it comes to relating to this story. Changing the details from thebook into the movie made the movie much, much better than it already was.
