New Years :)
This new years I spent with my whole moms side of the family. We didn’t even notice the clock strike twelve until we heard fireworks and gun shots outside. I figured out that it was new years when I got ten million texts saying “Happy New Years!” My family exchanged hugs and new years congratulations and after, we continued watching Transformers 2. To me, it seemed like any other day.
Christmas :)
I spent most of my break with my family. Christmas day is normally an extremely stressful day. But this Christmas, it was the exact opposite. We opened presents at my house and then headed over to my cousins house in South Lyon. I spent the whole day with my cousin, who happens to be one of my best friends, Katie. My whole family and I sat around the island ate, joked and laughed together more than we ever have before. This Christmas I wished for my family to be more like a family. I got my wish.
The Power of One.
The Power of One touched my heart.PK didn’t have the brightest childhood and still found a way to put hope in the hearts of others by having hope himself. He united all of the slaves and everyone who was hated for the color of their skin. I never would have expected such a tiny, adorable little boy could become someone so courageous and potent. He was strong in ways that made you wish you were him. The Power of one showed just how cruel the apartheid was and how it need to be stopped.
